Influence of meteorological factors on the relative water content of coffee plants in the field

Global climate change is leading to changes in rainfall and temperature parameters. With the lack of water, coffee plant presents growth development restrictions. The air also affects plant, as each event requires an ideal temperature. genetic improvement can help overcome these difficulties with new cultivars more adapted effects change. Thus, studies are necessary characterize responses water restriction high temperatures. So, objective present study was relative content (RWC) Coffea arabica plants cultivar Bourbon Vermelho variety Semperflorens, respectively sensitive tolerant deficit under field conditions, cultivated experimental area southeastern Brazil. RWC evaluated from September February for three consecutive years leaves taken two branches belonging apical basal portions four plants, positioned facing cardinal points West East. Meteorological data on were collected during periods by a meteorological station installed near cultivation site. Semperflorens had similar responses, around 60%, both plants. It demonstrated that not different between relation East variety.
